Building Our Future Hand In Hand

“The most reliable way to predict the future, is to create it.” – Abraham Lincoln

The Bahamas currently has minimal legal requirements governing the funeral industry. As we anticipate the implementation of comprehensive regulations, there is optimism that these guidelines will tackle critical issues, including but not limited to funeral care quality, standards for funeral home facilities, necessary equipment, and the training of professional staff. This will empower individuals to select a funeral home that offers reassurance and peace of mind during an arduous time.

Now more than ever, it is crucial for the Funeral Association of The Bahamas (FAB) to take courageous and decisive steps to ensure a thriving future for its members. We must diligently strive to influence the wider external landscape in which our association functions, empowering the funeral profession to design its own destiny instead of merely reacting to external circumstances.

The pandemic has unmistakably revealed the significant impact that solidarity, skill, and the backing of a strong association could have had on our lives.

It’s time to move beyond our past. While the impact of a pandemic may be profound, we must now dedicate ourselves to forging a future that ensures FAB members have every tool necessary to lead the funeral profession with confidence and competence.

It is my hope that FAB’s reputation becomes a cornerstone in fostering a future where the funeral profession is honored not just for its societal contributions and the promotion of a more knowledgeable community, but, most importantly, for delivering outstanding care to the families we serve.
